Our guest speaker today was Jessica Booth, Newport Parks & Rec Director. Jessica shared the great news of a secured grant to help build a paved trail through Prouty Beach, connecting the bike path to the planned Bluffside trails. She also updated the club on the Splash and Play project at Gardner Park; with elements such as: Opening up some new green picnic space, redesigning and updating the playground area /equipment, complete with new fencing, flowers, and a water splash pad for lots of summer fun!Also included in the plans are some beautiful sail shades that will provide families a great place to
refresh out of the sun. Also, in the works is a redesign of the existing “skate shack” – upgrading the
layout, public restroom facilities to be more family friendly , and adding on an addition for concession
